It is hard to grasp the concept of liberty in today’s society because we have so little true liberty by which to compare. The basis of liberty is in understanding self ownership. That’s right-you own yourself. You are your own property. No other person or groups of people have a natural right over your individual sovereignty or your property, which is YOU.
Free association with individuals or groups in a free society has led to some of the greatest concepts, ideas, and inventions. The free exchange of property, both physical and intellectual, amongst people is mutually beneficial in a free society, otherwise the people involved would not make the exchange. The freedom to join groups of like minded individuals, or not, is entirely up to you.
Groups or organizations using force to impose its will upon another sovereign individual is the epitome of the dangers involved in a true democracy. The strength of the majority does not override the natural rights of the individual. Even more reprehensible is organizations or people that force its agenda on the people by using the force of government by proxy.
The taking of your property by force or fraud is theft. It doesn’t matter if someone steals your guns by climbing thru your window in the dead of night or legislating it on the floor of Congress; it is theft.
